Please feel free to print and share......

BCCG have asked to circulate  the Antibiotic Guardian Leaflet that highlights the role we have to ensure that Antibiotics are used appropriately:   Please feel free to download and circulate amongst your staff and share with your residents and their relatives.

Complex Care will be administering the flu vaccinations for the residents over the winter period. Did you know that Bedford Borough frontline staff are also entitled to a free flu vaccination?

Letter from the Health Protection Team....

This year, the NHS Flu Programme is offering the flu vaccination free of charge to:

Frontline social care staff, employed by a registered residential care/nursing home or registered domiciliary care provider, who are directly involved in the care of vulnerable patients/clients who are at increased risk from exposure to influenza. Vulnerable means those patients/clients in a clinical risk group for flu or who are aged 65 years and over.

Formal carers can visit the GP they are registered with or a local community pharmacy to receive their vaccination.  They will need to take their employee identification card or a letter from their employer to receive the vaccination free of charge from their GP or local pharmacy.

Vaccinating carers protects the carer themselves and can help to prevent the spread of flu to the people they are caring for, who may be at high risk of complications. It can also help to prevent the spread of flu within the care home including infection with H3N2 virus which is included in this year’s flu vaccine.
